Salinda's Art Cards and More

Salinda (Yan Zheng) studied traditional Chinese brush painting for three years in Beijing before emigrating to the U.S. In 2012 she married Richard Zunkel, also an artist and became interested in Western style watercolor painting. She practiced with her husband during plein air outings sponsored by the Santa Clara Valley Watercolor Society. She attended Tony Couch's four-day watercolor workshop in Cambria, California and the Ichen Art Academy in Fremont. She has become an accomplished watercolor landscape artist, but still uses her talent and training to produce beautiful original greeting cards, a favorite at local art shows and sales.
Dick Zunkel studied art at Bradley University in conjunction with his engineering ciriculum. He furthered his art studies at Wingate University (North Carolina) and the San Francisco Art Institute where he also served as a guest instructor. He has worked in oil and acrylic media, but prefers watercolor. He has taught watercolor in both classroom and workshop venues. He paints plein air regularly with his wife Salinda. They often paint at the California seashore from Big Sur to Point Arena. They enjoy sketchbook drawing and painting in their travels worldwide. A former motorcycle enthusiast, he draws cartoons for BMW club magazines.
